OXYGEN PADDLE BOARD REVIEW

At TJBoardhire, we are always excited to receive our new kit, in anticipation of the coming season.

For the third year, we have opted for Hatha Paddleboards as our preference for school kit. The quality of boards, paddles and excellent customer service mean that we can have peace of mind that our customers will be able to enjoy their lessons and hires on quality equipment.

One of our favourite Hatha paddleboards has to be the Oxygen. The 10’6” inflatable board is a firm favourite with customers who are looking for something stable to learn on, as well as more experienced riders who will appreciate the touring style nose design and Tri fin set up with central US fin box system which allows for excellent tracking. With double layer pvc construction and a maximum rider weight of 158kg this board is more than up for the antics of the students, hen, stag and family groups that will be riding them this coming season.

For 2020 there have been a few upgrades to the Oxygen paddle board design. Hatha have stayed with the ever-popular red and blue designs, whilst also introducing this stunning wood effect model. It is great to see that Hatha have kept the front and back bungee straps that are great for storing drybags for those longer days out, ensuring that extra kit and the obligatory picnic are easily carried. Likewise, the multiple D rings and carry handles mean that this board is functional and designed with paddlers needs in mind.

Another fantastic upgrade is the front opening rucksack style bag for storage. This really is a quality addition, with padded carry shoulder and waist straps, carrying kit could not be easier. With two front pockets and zips running down either side of the bag allowing full opening, packing and unpacking the kit is made a much easier experience.

Another small but neat upgrade, is the addition of the thumbscrew on all fin nut bolts. This makes fitting and removing the fin a lot easier without the need to carry extra tools.

Our favourite addition for this season has to be the addition of the new Pump. This really is a quality product. With a double chamber allowing paddlers to switch between double and single inflation, the ease of pumping up this board is significantly easier than on previous models. The addition of a deflate option to ensure that all air is removed prior to packing away is definitely an upgrade that many will be impressed with, also the hose is attached to the pump body, not the handle, resulting in a more controlled inflation.

The package comes with the Hatha standard entry level fibre glass paddle, which is an ideal first time paddle. However, having been lucky enough to obtain some of the new Hatha paddle designs, their wooden paddle  offers a  really exciting and colourful option to consider as an upgrade.

Overall, this board is a fantastic option for paddlers who may be looking to step up from more budget entry level boards and invest in something that will perform as an all-round board on the sea, rivers and canals. At a mid-range price point, the Hatha Oxygen is one of the most popular boards for those that prefer to spend a little more on quality kit, whilst avoiding the higher price tags of some of the major brands. With Hatha’s exceptional reputation and first-rate commitment to customer service, we highly recommend the Oxygen paddle board and give the impressive new wood design a big thumbs up.

If you are in or around West Sussex and want to try out any of Hatha’s kit, we have the full range of boards to lessons and hire at our TJBoardhire SUP school and Chichester SUP Club. Contact us at tjboadhire@outlook.com for booking.
